Need reassurance...

Hey guys, hope you are all okay! I havent been on here for a while which is a good thing I guess..Anyway I will get to the point.

Previously I have been a sufferer of health anxiety and up until recently, I have not had a spate of it. I am currently getting a really tight chest at the moment and as soon as I get that I go into a full blown panic attack thinking I am having a heart attack! It has got so bad that I am literally just focusing on my chest and heart which is not helping the situation! As I am typing this my chest is quite tight too!

If anyone has had this kind of thing before it would be amazing to here from you please!

Thanks so much x

hi Im here lets talk about whats going on

Of course I have experienced that before Bondy. The difference now is that I

look back at what may have caused it to tighten. Even caffeine can cause that

sensation as well as over using our muscles the day before. The thing is not to

allow it to become the "be all" of our thoughts. The moment we do that, the

fear rises and we are sucked into anxiety's game. Try putting a hot towel around

your upper back because more than likely the chest tightness is coming from the

back and neck muscles. Only you know your body well enough to make the decision

if this is something different. But don't allow anxiety to make that decision for you.

Breathe, it's going to be okay. :) xx

Hey Agora, thank you so much for your message it really means a lot to know im not the only one that has had this form of anxiety! Still feeling really shaky and tight but just going to try and keep myself busy and distracted!

I have experienced this many times. My GP said I’m breathing from my diaphragm instead of from my tummy .. this is Anxiety related .. he told me to breath in through the nose with the count of four, hold your breath for a second or two .. then gently blow out slowly .. repeat a couple of times ... regulates your breathing pattern back to normal .. it want harm you .. you will be ok ...

Hey Heidi, thank you for this! I have tried the technique you recommended and at times it did calm me down. Thanks a bunch!

Bondy i get that daily. Especially if i have busy days. And when im tired. Sometimes my chest gets so tight that i think i cant even breathe and as if im going to pass out. I just keep reassuring myself that its my panic attack annoying me. I just try my best to ignore it and eventually it goes away. I drink a glass of water when it happens. It helps for me
