Anyone else get the fear that this will never end. That this is our lives now. Depression and the like. That my number one fear. Once you're in the hole how do you dig yourself out when all you know is the hole?

Hi depression feels like it will last however when in the throes of it. This is because depressive thoughts are always negative so recognise this and try not to listen to them. The most important thing we have is hope.

Most episodes only last for a relatively short time and it would be very unlikely you won't come out of in the near future. The way forward is to seek help both medical and the self help route. Keep plugging away as much as you can and you will see changes. Even if you have to live with some degree of depression for a long time we become much better about managing it which also lessens it. x

Is 9 months long?

How long is a piece of string? One of my 2nd cousins spent a year in his bedroom very severely depressed. He got treatment and eventually he came out of it and is much better now. His parents didn't understand at all and kept telling him to pull himself together like he was a pair of curtains.

I have suffered since childhood but with treatment and learning to manage it, it is much less of a problem and has been for many years. x

It takes as long as it takes. I have had anxiety since I was very young. I have managed it most of my life doing quite well. There is always hope and help and support. I am here if you need😊

No, I always believed this is not what life is about. I'm anxiety free, have been for years all because I always believed in myself.

I do have thought that maybe this wont go away but it does not encompass fear. What i find helps with my Depersonilization is remembering what it was like to be normal and be healthy. I also find what helps is keeping hope by looking into new treatments. If i were depressed id look into everything especially if it lasted 9 months straight. Id look into (not in order) ketimine, Psylicyben, botox for depression, cbt and emdr which i know you asked about, one on one therapy, group therapy, social interaction, nutrition for depression, IPT, Exercise (probably the most underrated), Brain stimulation therapy, Along with more. Just know that you should get on other treatments before you are depressed for more than two years which is where your brain will literally push away the feeling of happiness

Hey tp, my only contribution on this one is to try and keep moving forward. If you feel you need a new therapist, than go for it. If this is just a thing you have to deal with, than so be it. Try and let yourself believe it's not the end of the world--because that idea that things are ok is actually much closer to the truth.

Having said all that, make sure you give a professional or two (thru therapy) their chance to help. They know best.

Hang in there bro.
