I was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder. I was on zoloft for a number of years, kept increasing the dose until I was on 200mg/day. Still had the anxiety. I was then also prescribed cymbalta which was later switched to buspar. Still had anxiety. I was then prescribed klonopin in addition to the zoloft and buspar. It did help my ruminating thinking and help me start to manage my anxiety, but I still had anxiety. I've read that my experience is quite common, that meds can help but they won't eliminate your anxiety. The most helpful was learning what anxiety really is, accepting and not fearing it. A good place to start is watching youtube of or reading Dr. Claire Weekes books.
Hi Joe
I have certainly found Venlafaxine a life saver but it definitely takes a few months before it takes full effect.
