Headache doc not concerned but I am

I have been back and forth to the docs with this nagging headache, i told him today that I was concerned it was something bad, he was lovely and did put my mind at ease a little but he has prescribed me some pills for migraines, I read the leaflet and I'm now scared of taking them. I want to take them but now I am worried about taking them and something happening as a result. I don't know what to do...does anyone else get these anxieties or is it just.me being silly?

Yeah I’m the same I got some anti acid pills and read the leaflet and it was like swelling of the mouth, face and throat as a serious side effect which worried me as I had that happen to me in July from an allergic reaction to a bite. Took one this morning and so far been ok.

fortunately I'm not allergic to anything i know of, but the side effects and the way these tablets say they work scares the hell out of me - cardiac problems, tightening of blood vessels etc - I'm not even convinced the doc has made the right diagnoses! But im sure he looked at the risks and outweighed the cons with the pros - I might take one tonight and just try and forget about it - drowsiness effect will hopefully help with my insomnia lol

if you took one this morning i would be fairly confident in saying your ok with them - you would know by now even if you did have a mild reaction to anything in them

phillips123, believe me, we are all the same when it comes to taking medication. I've often wondered what I expected the doctor to do if I was unwilling to try a med he prescribed? Wave a magic wand? I use to wait a couple months and then go back with the same complaint.

I finally learned some other methods to lessen my headaches which helped a lot. I would never read the pamphlet enclosed with the med or check out the drug on Google, that would just intensify my fears.

If you do decide to try the med, write down the time, name and dosage of the pill you took. For the first time, tell someone you know that you just took it. Once you do, do not sit there anticipating side effects. Best thing is to keep your mind busy with something else. Once the first hour goes by, you are pretty much home free. Good Luck and trust your doctor knows what is best for you. :)
