Bedtime
Yes Mouley - I make myself a herbal drink in a thermos flask for the morning - I ensure my bed is made and comfortable with a side light on to welcome me, wrap my nightie around a hot water bottle put into my bed - put my radio softly playing classical FM - and then climb into bed with a mug of of Pukka Womankind - Or maybe another that helps with sleep issues e.g. Dr Stuarts Tranquility, Pukka Night Time -or Clipper's Snore & Peace! - also there's a remedy called 5HTP purchased at Holland & Barratts -
It's about making a conscious effort to start winding down about an hour before hand - avoid the computor - more than a the bright light alone causes the brain to be super alert at precisely the wrong time of day. And watching TV in bed creates too much brain activity much like the computor. A warm bath rather than a HOT one with aromatherapy essential oils e.g. Lavender (also few drops on the pillow )
There are some excellent meditation downloads - or on CD plus Whale music -Some times I resort to Breathing exercise cum meditation - Breathe IN 1-2-3-4 -HOLD 1-2-3-4 - Breathe OUT 1-2-3-4 HOLD again 1-2-3-4- and repeat several times -
And always eat much lighter meals (boiled /scrambled egg - some soup -omlette before going to bed because the stomach has to work too hard digesting the food which also interferes and disturbs sleep activity.
I stay away from chocolate, coffee and tea just before sleeping and as I said no heavy meals like curry or meat and veg - it's about keeping it light and simple and if possible eat as far away from going to bed
Hope some of this may help ((Hug)) x
The word is these days we should not eat before bedtime, up to four hours before. We have a couple of crackers with naughty butter on about 8pm
Mind a wee dram does seem to help me sleep, lol

All the obvious things to avoid...fizzy pop especially coke, Tea and Coffee ,Cheese and chocolate ,bovril or oxo drinks It is tempting to have a " drink " before bed telling yourself It helps you sleep when the opposite is proven Alcohol may help you get off to sleep but then much more likely to get up to go to the loo ! I find The best things to eat before bed are carbohydrate based but not too much ...a weetabix and warm milk ...a slice of brown bread toasted or not My favourite is a slice of brown bread ,sliced banana and a sprinkle of sugar , Not everyone's perfect butty but well worth a try !
