Health anxiety

I know I've been experiencing high anxiety the past few days. But I can't help but think something else is wrong. Can anyone help in ways to talk myself out of thinking it's something else? I'm snappy and becoming irritable but I just can't get that feeling of dread out of my head!

Hi Sara, I'm sorry you are going through this high anxiety. It's difficult to shake that dread feeling when you are in an intense stage of anxiety. I mentally talk to myself and tell myself to STOP IT. I try to get involve with something physical as well as getting my mind off my worry about myself. For me, it's usually cleaning closets or drawers. Making up bags of old goods for charity. By the time I'm finished, I'm a good

tired and realize when I'm physically worn out, my mind is more settled. I then look back and tell myself, if it were more than anxiety, I would not have been able to physically handle all I did. I then usually spend the evening listening to meditation tapes and doing deep breathing to try and bring my anxiety level down. Of course, therapy is always an option, just know that it does take time to get the results you want, but well worth the effort. Of course until this is resolved, you will feel snappy and irritable, who wouldn't when you don't have the answers to get rid of your anxiety.
