I put my phone down and pay 100 attention on something and all my "symptoms" go away how weird I never noticed I just felt happy when I notcied it I just thought id share and any advice or comments? Similar stories?

Hi there... yes I come to realise that when I focus on my symptoms its worse, and apparently with panic you have to switch to the other side of the brain, so if I feel like that, I do something menial , Ive actually started knitting and cos I have to focus on that, and its quite relaxing, then the symptoms go!!

This time last year I was in a terrible way and Im glad to say that Im well on my road of recovery, its been very hard and there have been dark days, but Im here and while I still have some crap hours, I now know I have to stop those worrying thoughts, and luckily its working!!

Are you saying then, your phone is a source of anxiety for you? (I know my friend gets anxious when she sees her email, social media, etc. On her phone).

I find I am at my worst when on my own during the day with not a lot to do. But symptoms can go when I am concentrating on something especially when I am with people I feel safe with.

Have a look into 'mindfulness' - - in fact I would suggest getting hold of 'Mindfulness - a practical guide to finding peace in a frantic world' by Mark Williams and Danny Penman (Professor Mark Williams is Professor of Clinical Psychology at Oxford University). Sounds like this is just what you need - it reduces the 'talking' in your head and puts you back into control. As a process, its' benefits actually show in MRI scans of the brain. It reduces stress, anxiety, blood pressure and helps you control physical pain. Worth a shot?

I notice this also, reading or cleaning/organizing help me. Focusing on tedious things can help. There are a few shows on netflix that i turn on when feeling anxious also.

Good. The cell phone and other digital devices should not be dominating our lives. Our lives should not to tied to anything/anyone but God.
