Hi all - This is my first post. I tried Lyra through work, and after a quick intake discussion, the therapist told me about Lyra's process. She said it's very goal-oriented and sounded pretty intensive... she said most people would be able to exit the process at 8-10 sessions with the skills they needed to manage their anxiety.

Honestly that timeline and her expectations of me just gave me more anxiety. All I'm dealing with at work and at home right now are short deadlines. I told her that wasn't what I was looking for, and we signed off. I have now signed up for Talkspace to see if that's a model that makes me feel more comfortable. My history of therapy is some in-person sessions that I really liked when I used to live in Chicago, but it ended abruptly because of COVID. I've also tried BetterHelp, but didn't hit it off with the two therapists (one really liked talking about herself, and the other wanted me to make my problems about my husband).

Am I the problem? Should I have tried to continue with the short-term Lyra options? Opinions about what has worked for you, and any other feedback, are greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome. First of all, I don't know how a program can say that in x number of sessions you'll be able to deal with anything. We are people, not robots, lol. Not something that I would want to do either. I've not tried any of the online therapy apps, so I don't really know if one is better than the other. My suggestion is to keep looking and find what suits you. I do know that folks tend to change therapists because they're not the right fit, so I don't think it's you. You just haven't found your right fit yet. You will. Until then you have us if you need to chat! Best wishes 🙂

Thank you so much. I needed that validation. I work in health insurance so I get why they set it up that way (plans only cover so many sessions), but the way she said it, I was embarrassed that I wasn't part of that majority group that could bust their butt to "fix" myself within 8-10 sessions. I need to put less pressure on myself, not more :)

This community feels like a great place, and I'm excited to have found a sounding board, especially for the bad days. ❤️

Hi MamaBaaBa, Welcome to a safe and caring community.

I lost count in how many sessions I had over the years. No one could really put a

number on the amount of therapy that's necessary to heal. It's all about quality

not quantity of sessions. When the time is right and when you are ready is when

everything will fall into place. :) xx
