My To Don't List

I recently came across a podcast that changed my thinking. it's about having a to don't list. it means it's a series of things that you tell yourself to stop doing. i've found that extremely profound. we keep focusing on what we should do but we don't focus on what we shouldn't do either. i've started a small list below and am sharing incase it's helpful to anyone.

i've recently achieved alot of peace from not doing certain things and it's made me very happy. I literally sleep better now because I have peace. I chose not to keep holding onto to people who don't value me or think that having them in my life is necessary. In truth, we can do without alot of people and things. We need to choose peace and I finally understand what that means. I've wasted so many years feeling bad because I didn't understand I needed to let go.

I am starting on my next phase of healing, which is to stop doing things that makes me unhappy. hope this helps for whoever is interested. Be well everyone and have a great weekend! 😉

• Don’t say negative things about anyone or anything.

• Don’t focus on problem areas, focus on opportunities.

• Don’t blame other people or things for situations I have full control over.

• Don’t complain about everyone and everything that’s not important.

• Don’t jump into action before making sure I understood the assignment.

• Don’t create stress in my life by multi-tasking.

• Don’t compare myself to others and envy what I am not willing to work hard to achieve.

• Don’t make excuses for my own behavior when it’s my fault.

• Don’t tell myself that I’m not good enough or I can’t until I’ve tried.

That's a great list. I feel like it would be more of starting point for me. For every don't, I would need an actionable do. My main one would be: Don't worry about a million things. Do focus on one thing at a time.

I call that my Won't Power list. It works very well for me, clearing my mental decks for things I need to do. I have more Won't Power than will power.

hi Griefsucks810! It’s supposed to help and so far it’s making me less stressed out . I also journal alot so my thoughts don’t marinate in my head and consume my day. I brought my journal to work and I journal first thing before working so I put myself first. If I get triggered during the day, I write about it so it’s addressed right away. Before I would suffer all day until I can go home and journal. I have lots of journals with meaningful covers so that helps to calm and motivate too. For example, I have one that I got from IG and I use it as a journal cover. I have many journals for different purposes. I have alot of healing to do and this helps me be more organized and focused.

You have to find what works for you.

I love your journal cover! I’m about to start journaling, I have bought one and I intended to start it on Jan1st.

Sadly medical issues have prevented me from travelling I am (happily) stranded at my brother’s home.

My husband and I are staying with him, the plan was just 7 days but it’s now been 12 days and still no sign of me being fit! I have a psych appointment in about 12 days time so I’ve got to be back for that!
