Finally after years of being afraid of judgment and horrible side effects, I’m allowing myself to seek more help and try medication. I was recently medically retired from the military and my depression and PTSD have been debilitating….I pray to God this helps me because I’ve barely been functioning.

I hope it works for you as well. Zoloft never really did anything for me when I took it. I didn't have any side effects, and Zoloft is a pretty common drug, so I'm sure you'll be alright there. The only thing people should judge you on is the fact that you're helping yourself get over some issues. If they don't realize that then they may not be the best people for you to be around.

I didn’t want to try medication either, but when I finally found the right medication, it made me feel “normal.” I still benefited from therapy but I could work on other things without being dragged down by depression.

Hang in there. Even if Zoloft doesn’t work, there are several other drugs to try. It can take awhile so don’t give up hope.

By the way, side effects usually get better after a few months as your body adjusts.
