Ok this is silly

How does something as silly as a tooth ache and a headache give me anxiety? I mean that's ridiculous right? Not in full panic, just uncomfortable. Trying to take my own advice and let it go.

It’s strange to compare our common sense to our anxious mind.

Our fears often are built on what doesn’t make sense. Horror films use that to their advantage like having a tv on but not plugged in.

The power of emotion and running thoughts are fierce. They compound upon each other.

After therapy, I have found I like calling out my fears and how unrealistic they are! They are unreliable! How can my friend hate me because I left our study group slightly early to go to work? How does it make sense that my throat or whatever hurts so I think I’m going to die in my sleep so my solution is to not sleep?

The way I deal with it in the moment has been acceptance of the possibility and reminding myself of past experience. I have thought people could hate me, thought I’d die, thought my car was going to break down, and thought I had a deadly disease slowly killing me. Anyways, my friends keep talking to me, I’m still alive, the doctors say I’m okay, and my car mechanics have started charging me for all the useless checkups.

Heres what I recommend:

1. Your pain is important. Your body is telling you something. It makes sense that’d you need to acknowledge and think about it.

2. Assess your needs. Maybe you needed drink water, get more rest, make sure you’re eating enough in the day, try eating softer foods, meditate.

3. Recognize other life factors that could influence your current wellbeing. Are you stressed because of a work, partner, family or personal problem?

4. Make a plan. Make a plan to combat the worry. “I’ll wait [certain time period]. I will try [different solutions]. I will get the advice of [ppl your can trust or your dentist].”

You’re worried because something *could* be wrong. It might not. Just do the best to take care of you and that will be enough.

I hope you get to feel cozy and relaxed soon

Having a distorted perspective really does put a hanker on things! Great comment. It is so good to put the proper language to identify what’s going on.

“Cognition Distortion” lists definitely helped me earlier on in my mental health journey to identify thought patterns that weren’t coherent with reality, that hurt me, and that hurt others around me. Like “all or nothing” and “never and always” and “personalization” and “catatrophizing”. I would love or hate, imagine the worst, think that most things were my fault or that people’s behaviors were because of me, and be in the perspective that things couldn’t change for the better.

It’s nice to have such progress to be able to identify those and choose what I now know is a healthier more accurate perspective.

Wish you the best with your online therapy program!! Keep learning!

Not silly at all..that is what panic and anxiety does

It's like a balloon filling with air ready to pop...

Every ache, every pain seems like it holds the worst scenario

We experience things much more complex than others

If you have a cold..a little voice tells you you have a lung disease

If you have a joint pain you have fybromyalgia

It's just the way it is

The hard part is trying to argue against your own overreacting brain...

But the good news..you can do it ..meditate...drift off to a dream world, focus on something you really enjoy.. .

Everyone is'nt religious but I find talking to God gets me through bad attacks...

God Bless and I truly hope you find something that really is strong enough to counter attack your brains negative impulse

Good advice. I have illness anxiety disorder they call it. Ruminating on it makes one miserable. I have to keep busy and remember that the brain is a liar and it talks to our feelings--a vicious cycle. Like you said a spiritual life is the greatest help and reading positive and devotional material can turn a day around. Avoid violent and disturbing TV and news. Pray and meditate on beautiful scenes; do deep breathing every day and eat veggies and fruit in abundance. Avoid meat if you can. Exercise as much as possible. Keep in contact with friends and family. Do one phone call a day, write e-mails to friends you haven't seen for awhile. Remember those who live alone.

Good morning!

I think, any pain that you have will cause you stress because it causes a negative. When I had terrible panic attacks the slightest pain made me think of death and pain which caused paranoia because I always thought it was my time to die! Anxiety causes big rifts in our thinking and our brain responds!

Have an anxiety free day 🤗😊🌺🌷

Not silly at all. I panic at the thought of meeting my cousins and usually end up cancelling as i am so anxious just at the thought. even going out sends me into a depression. So i know exactly what you are going thru.

Hopefully better days ahead.
