What do you mean snake oil?

in reply to Grin

Snake oil is a term for a false solution. When someone is selling a cure for all your woes or for things that are incurable, it's usually called snake oil because it has zero medicinal value. Just a term for days long ago when someone would come up with a "magical ointment" that solved all your problems for money despite never really offering a legitimate product. Snake oil does exist, but per Wikipedia, it's really just the same ingredients used in Vick's VapoRub...a chest oil.
