I have started to feel better depression wise for a few weeks now however I don’t have any appetite still. It’s been about 6 weeks. I feel ok otherwise and am taking supplements and herbs which I think are helping my mental state.
I just want to feel hungry again. Any ideas or your own experiences? Thanks

One way to perhaps make you feel hungry once more is to eat.
As an anorexic, when I go long periods of time without eating, my hunger kills me for the first day or so, but then it goes away because your body knows it’s not gonna get food, so it doesn’t bother sending up hunger signals. So, eat. I know it’s hard when you don’t have an appetite, but just eat something!
Thanks I’ve just ate a falafel wrap (one of my faves) and I was able to eat the whole thing and feel good (not nauseous). I just don’t seem to get the hunger pangs or growling stomach but when I eat it tastes good if that makes any sense
I suspect you are still depressed. When I am depressed I do not want to eat, a bag of microwave popcorn was my meal for the day. Now I am well again, my appetite has come back and I am cooking tasty meals for myself. I also like Subway, so I get a foot long and it does me two meals. I still like my popcorn, but that is a snack, I keep fruit around and snack on that also. Remember your body needs food and the nourishment it will get from it, the brain especially. I wish you well and do not give up. I send you strength & Love......Sprinkle 1.......xx
Thank you. This is my first time experiencing depression so all these symptoms are new to me. Any idea on how long it will take to not be depressed and get my appetite back?
Hi, seems to depend on the antidepressant you are on, it can take up to 3 months to really settle into your system, so please try to be patient with yourself, you say you are improving, that is a good sign. If that does not work, talk to your Dr. you may need to be on a different antidepressant.Stay in touch, we will help you thru this. Sending love and hope.......Sprinkle 1......xx
Thanks again. I’m not on any anti depressants I am trying to do what I can with lifestyle and diet as a first step. I’m taking supplements and herbs and I have been feeling better so far. Just the appetite and nausea
I'd try eating a little about 6 times a day. Having to prepare a meal for myself is just too much trouble. I love to cook, and do a great job for my husband, but I can't eat what I fix for him, or just plain don't want to. Sometimes I have just an Ensure or a meal bar, but at least it is something. And, I have regular times to do this. That way, I stay a little healthy, and don't become dehydrated.
