Any tips on how to deal with rage and anger brought on by anxiety? (I’ve tried Rx’s, yoga, exercise, essential oils)

I’ve been dealing with depression, anxiety and uncontrollable anger since I was young. But I can’t keep it control anymore and have lost my job and my friends. I’ve done all the heavy Rx’s but nothing seems to calm me or help control the rage.

I find exercise helped me. I used to play guitar but arthritis has dampened that Avenue. Have you tried any creative outlets?

I’m trying exercise but unfortunately I’m out of shape and can’t workout long enough to dampen the anger. I paint and do other creative projects and that helps.

I hear you about exercising. I only exercise because I have to. The anger relief was a byproduct. What do you paint?

That’s what I’m hoping for, just frustrating when I want to run my anger out and I can’t. I paint mostly canvases right now, anything my mind comes up with. What else did you try besides exercise?

I make jigsaw puzzles and do counted cross stitch. I find them relaxing. I always wanted to try painting. I restore religious statues and I paint plaster craft. I also found silent prayer relaxing.

Hi WaroftheRages,

I’ve found for me exercise like running actually makes my anger/self-control worse! I think it has to do with cortisol/blood pressure or something like that (I am not a medical professional, but sounds kinda right?). What creative projects are you working on?

I sometimes listen to “Yoga” playlists on Spotify, that sometimes feels good or I dog ear some favorite songs on Youtube for a quick listen. Maybe explore more music listening! Sometimes classical music like Debussy is really nice too to just kind of soak in. That can transport you very quickly into a different state of mind. Hope you continue your artistic endeavors. Keep us updated<3

Right now I’m trying to finish this giant embroidery project on canvas but it doesn’t always capture my attention.
