exercise makes you healthy and smart

I have been doing a lot of reading, about all sorts of things. One thing I've been reading more and more about is exercise. Even light exercise done regularly is very good for your physical health, obviously. It has also been scientifically proven that regular exercise can help treat depression. Today I learned that exercise can help you learn. It helps more neurons grow in the hippocampus of the brain, a structure associated with regulation of emotions and also with memory, especially long-term memory. There's no downside to brain growth, right? :-)

I used to exercise years ago. Feeling physically healthy and knowing I was healthy enhanced my mood and made me feel better about myself. I had no time to think about depression. One day soon I will be motivated enough to start exercising again. And now there’s a possibility of improved memory? Another reason to exercise. Thanks!

You're welcome. (Now I just need to practice what I preach.)

Exercise if you can do it, is really good for your brain and body. It has helped me deal with much stress in the past. Unfortunately, I got bronchitis (for two months) on top of the anxiety and depression I was dealing with and it's a slow go to get back to the type of activity I was used to doing. But, slow and steady is better than down and out! Hope you get out there and move!
