Advice needed

Had a chest X-ray today because a cold went into my chest an I've had this horrible cough for 10 days , the doctor said my chest and heart sound clear but we did the X-ray and one hour later , I got a call that they saw a small density on the left lobe of my lung and said it was lingular pneumonia and gave me a strong antibiotic and said we will X-ray again 3 weeks and if it's still there we will do another round of antibiotics and maybe a CT!

I worried out if my mind because I'm afraid it's not pneumonia, I'm afraid it could have been read wrong ? How can they tell the difference between cancer and pneumonia in an X-ray? And I'm afraid if this density is still there in three weeks why they said they would do a Ct? Do they suspect something else ? Would they really wait to see if antibiotics work before they check further? I can't concentrate and crying hysterically worried sick about this. Is there a doctor or nurse or anyone in here who would know if they know exactly what they are looking at?

Hi I am afraid there are no medical professionals on here, only fellow sufferers. I think you should believe the doctors. They know what they are doing and it sounds like you are getting very good treatment.

It's much more likely to be pneumonia than lung cancer and I am sure they have diagnosed you correctly. Lung cancer is mainly the result of smoking and is usually diagnosed in older people. They are doing everything correctly by the sound of it and they are just reassuring you that if it's not gone they will do further investigation.

Even if it was anything more serious then a delay of a few weeks wouldn't make any difference.

Do you have any symptoms of lung cancer? These include losing weight for no reason, coughing up dark red blood (google for the full list). If you don't have the symptoms you don't have lung cancer, so please stop worrying unnecessarily as this will only make you ill with anxiety too. x
