Hi! In May 2021 i was diagnosed with a very large DVT in my Right leg and moderate bilateral PE’s, i was on enoxoparin sodium untol recently when i was moved onto apixaban twice daily.

My qustion is, Does anyone know if its safe to have the covid vaccine?

Has anyone on here had it? And what were the side effects you had?

Im really worried about getting it.

Thank you

Speak to Yr doctor and consultant about this. It's too big a question for online advice IMHO.

In my case I was told that covid represents a much bigger risk than the vaccine.

Your doctor is the best person to advise you. I take Rivaroxaban following a PE 5 years ago, which uncovered that I have thrombophilia. I too was worried, but my doctor said I should still take the vaccine. He did advise me to have the Pfizer jab rather than AZ. I had no side effects at all.

Hi My GP advised & reassured me to take the vaccine and said that I was at no greater risk of problems arising than the next person. I took advice after having the first dose because after the first dose of AZ I had a severe headache and so was concerned. He advised me that the headache was not the only symptom I would be having if the vaccine was causing clotting. I did have the second AZ vaccine and yes had a headache again but it wasn't as severe and didn't last as long. I must admit I was a bit relieved when they said that the third booster dose would be Pfizer because I found the whole thing quite stressful. The headache was the only side effect I got and it was noticeable as I don't usually suffer headaches and if I do not of this intensity. We all respond differently though, my husband was severly fatigued whereas I was OK on that front.Talk to your GP and they will reassure you I am sure.

Hi. I'm also on Apixaban, x2 a day for recurring DVTs (unfortunately I also have Advanced Prostate Cancer). I had 2 Pfizer injections without any issues. Definitely talk to your doctor if feeling anxious. Good luck.

I agree with the other Respondents, you need to contact either your Consultant or GP.

I have had the 2 astrazeneca jabs after having had a pe back in 2017 and on rivaroxaban and have had no problems apart from tiredness and a headache after the covid jabs which soon went away.
