my heart rate has been going fast , but not af was told by arrhythmia nurse , but says tachycardia on my Kardia mobile , I was at hospital was going .to 132 , then back down to low 100s , feel awful , said all ok , go home take your meds what make me feel awful especially flecinide, but that helps my palpitations, I bent fown earlier heart rate shot from 91bpm to 187 , then went straight back down again ? I’m taking bisop 1.25 aday going to try increase tonight by 1.25 , and was told just take medication that makes me feel ok ? But flec in the day making me feel ill , so do you think one 50 mg at night would help , I was taking 2 , 50 mg per day , basically I’ve got to work it out for myself as not much help from doctors and at nurses, was absolutely fine till I started to reduce to make my self feel better

You might want to discuss having an ablation rather than treating it by medications you don't seem to be tolerating very well. It sounds like the issue may be on the right side of the heart which would make for an easier ablation with a higher success rate. A good electrophysiologist (ep) would be the one to talk to about all this.

Unfortunately, there's no magic wand with arrhythmias except perhaps, as Jim says, an ablation. This means that it can be easy to feel that doctors aren't treating this seriously when they are doing all that can be done.

Your increased heart rate when bending down is not usual in my own exprience. Indeed bending can cause palpitations immediately with me.

Your anxiety needs to be treated, it seems to me, as much as anything, since the doctors are clearly happy with your heart health in itself. Their main interest, I expect, is to protect your heart's pumping ability over the long term and, presumably, they feel they are doing this in your case. Have you asked your GP for help with counselling or something for the anxiety? My own experience is that anxiety magnifies all heart issues (indeed all health issues) such that it can be hard to unpick what is happening.

Hi

See a private or public H/Specialist.

BBs didn't control my H/Rate.

CCB proved is what I needed. Useless putting up BBs did nothing.

Have a 24hr H/Monitor to check your Bisoprolol out what it does. I found great for BP control.

I have 120mg Diltiazem CCB AM for H.Rate

2.5mg Bisoprolol PM for BP

Of course a anti-co.agulan PRAXA 110mg x twice day.

Done.

hello I’ve now been told to stop bisop and flec as been given verapermil, have to be clear 24 hours before I can take them , very nervous not having any medication till 2pm tomorrow, has anyone used verapermil, and is it good at stopping tachycardia /af and palpitations, I’m going to take 40 mg 3 times daily

I am on verapamil. It has stopped the tachycardia I was having ( 180 ‘ish) and I feel much better. Still get a few ‘runs’ of 130 or thereabouts but nothing much above this. Hope it works as well for you.

Hello how often do you get runs

Clyde12 profile image
Clyde12 in reply to Prosecco1997

Not too often but I don’t think 130 ‘ish is that high and it’s usually when I’m doing something. I used to get 180/190 for at least an hour which usually turned into AF. This happened even when I was sitting down but now it’s stopped and life is calm again. Took a while to get the right drug for me…. We are all different! Bisoprosol even at the lowest does made me feel dreadful. Good luck to you.
