Medical travel insurance

Following recent posts about travel insurance I'm going on a 24 day cruise to Canada in September and thought as my annual policy expires in August I'd do some exploration as to costs.

Totally frightening - some of the quotes even for a single trip came up nearly as much as the cruise itself and don't bother with comparison sites sheesh. Someone mentioned PayingTooMuch.com and I have to say their quotes were total nobrainers. I've just covered myself for £329 for the cruise by itself and an annual cost leaving out worldwide would be £249 - again a no brainer. If one did an annual including worldwide it would be just over £650 so slightly more expensive . I also have SVT as well as AF but they lump the two together as one arrhythmia and that I'm on blood thinners. Interesting much? Now to see if I can do the same with my car insurance!!

That sounds extraordinarily cheap. Hope you're well covered . I haven't heard of the company but will look into it when I need cover. My single trip transatlantic cruise quotes were over 3k single trip.

Well I do agree with you but it has cruise cover, covers my SVT & AF which is lumped into one for insurance purposes and they know I'm on a blood thinner. I'm also 77 so they kn ow my age as well. The questions are the stock ones asked by all the companies and it will cover cruising to Canada. I did query the low cost but that didn't seem to phase them. Probably that's why it's called PayingTooMuch.com The company doing the insuring is InsureMe4 aka Great Lakes Insurance UK and in fact I found I'd used that company 6 years ago for my husbands insurance. It has good reviews.

Hi, will the insurance pay for any medicare as when it happens or do you have to claim on return. A friend needed an emergency appendicitis op when in Canada and had to pay out of their own pocket and had to claim off insurance on return to UK. Any heart issue could be expensive.

One is given an emergency number which must be contacted immediately either by the person insured or someone with them and then they will authorise whatever is needed and will pay the provider direct.
