aura migraine without headache
Hi JBird2020,
I’m sorry to hear about the problems you’re having, but I don’t think you will get many responses here as this is a forum for people suffering with atrial fibrillation.
I notice that you have thyroid issues on your profile and your question might be better posed on there? There might also be a migraine one but I’m not sure.
Good luck,
Teresa
Many other drugs beside propranolol are available to prevent and treat migraine symptoms. You should be examined by a neurologist to rule out other causes and come up with treatment options. Best, etheral
i’ve experienced the same thing even after my ablation (about a year and six months ago). still do to this day. it has eased somewhat though. pretty sure if you’ve been to different doctors and have had many tests done (like i did), then its just anxiety and will take time and patience and some work from you to get past it. i’m currently taking Metoprolol 15 mg for my inappropriate sinus tachycardia and it definitely helps with fast heart rate and my anxiety a bit.
Hi Many years ago I suffered terrible migraines also sensitive to light but no headaches. My doctor gave me naramig ( Naratriptan) to take when I felt it coming on which I found were the only things that helped me but check with GP first.
thank you. I’m on Carbimazole for thyroid as well so not sure what drug I can take for this .. every time the sun comes out I suffer even with good sun glasses on … it’s horrible 😩
I don’t know if you’re male or female or how old you are, but I had this when I was going through the menopause. My GP put me on HRT and it stopped happening. This might be no use to you at all, but good luck with it.
yes I’m on HRT and nothing working yet . Ultageston 100 and Evorel 100 patch … could it be that ?
I used t o regularly get ocular migraines; just visual disturbances but no headache. TO be honest I never did anything about them. They last between 15 and 20 minutes, starting with a small star shape then spreading wider. I just sit and wait for them to go. The only time they are ever a problem is if I'm driving but if I can pull off when they first start I'm ok. I can even sometimes drive while they are there as I can see past them. I asked my optician about them when they first started but once I knew what they were, I just ignored them. Oddly this past couple of years I've only had one or two. At first they were almost every week. While there are treatments for proper migraines I don't think here really is anything for ocular ones. I just learned to live with them.
I hadn't seen anyone mention migraine aura without headache on this forum until your post so thanks for raising the topic. I now know I'm not the only one..
Since my ablations I have had a few episodes but it wasn't until a change in medication that I started having them frequently. Following my last ablation I was taken off all heart rhythm/rate control medication but I am still on BP medication. At first I was just on Losartan but my GP wanted my BP reduced a little more so I was prescribed a CCB and he put me on diltiazem (as I was tolerant to them). That had the unfortunate side effect that my heart rate dropped to mid 40s at night and BP to around 100/70 and I started getting episodes of Ventricular bigeminy. My EP suggested that the issues could be caused by the low heart rate so changed diltiazem to amlopidine. This stopped the bigeminy, kept my bp and heart rate to more acceptable levels but I started getting more frequent episodes of aura without headache. I did find some claim via google that if you take a combination of losartan and amlopidine then a side effect could be increased "vision issues " but nothing concrete so at my annual review I was going to ask my GP if we can try a different combination of drugs. Prior to change of drugs maybe 1 or 2 episodes a year, post change 28 so far this year. Could yours be bp drug related?
I don’t know as propanolol is prescribed for migraines .. I’m so confused why I’m so sensitive to light all of a sudden and my vision has changed massively! I’m always hiding from bright lights ! My life is horrible, can’t bare it ! I need help with this , doctors won’t see me ! I have had eyes checked and nothing is wrong … can anyone help with what I can do ?
