Possible double dose of edoxaban

Hi guys.

4 weeks post ablation and today feel absolute rubbish. Head is in the clouds and shattered as well. So much so that I feel like I may have taken a double dose of 60mg edoxaban 😬 Can’t be 100% though as I say I’ve been extremely groggy today and hence my predicament. Does anyone know if this is dangerous? Has anyone done before? Total numpty 🤦‍♂️ Hopefully not too much of a problem 🤞

I think many of us have been there although I’m more likely to miss a dose. As you are uncertain I would signpost you to

Which says

If the person has taken a double dose of edoxaban, they should take the next dose as normal the following day.

If the person is uncertain whether they have taken their dose, management will depend on their thrombotic risk:

If thrombotic risk is high (CHA2DS2-VASc score greater than 3), it may generally be advisable to take another dose and then continue the planned dose regimen.

If thrombotic risk is low (CHA2DS2-VASc score less than 2), it is recommended that they wait until the time of their next scheduled dose.

If you are concerned for the next 12 hours though suggest that you contact 111 or a pharmacist.

Thanks cdreamer! That’s put my mind at ease a bit. If they’re saying just take next dose as normal next day then can’t be too much of an issue 😅 thanks again for info

We have all been there Elli, in my case despite using dosette boxes and phone alarms! It’s always best to check the leaflets which come with the medication or you could check the NICE guidelines, link below. Suggest you try to be extra careful not to who anything potentially dangerous.

I took a double dose of Apixaban when I woke during the night and thought I had forgotten to take any at all the previous day. My daughter had given me two of her tablets and I hadn't removed the ones I didn't need from my pill box. The next day I was fine and took that day's as normal.

Yes - much like you; and the opposite, going to the box and finding the day wrong because I'd forgotten one! I was told not to worry and, well, I'm still here. I was expecting extra bruising or something, but, no - nothing.

You take anti coags for minimum 3 months post ablation. As for the rest of the message I have no idea what your talking about

How are you feeling now? did you contact your doctor or pharmacist for their medical advice?

I feel ok now I think 🤔😂 apart from the usual joys of being post ablation. Didn’t contact them in the end no. Looked at the advice given and rode it out 👍
