I have recently heard that taking fish oil capsules might cause A-fib. Is this true..I have taken fish oil all my life. Is there any data behind this.

I’ve read a few studies on AF and fish oil and from my understanding fish oil is good for bones, CVD -cardio vascular & brain health but doesn’t help AF. I think taken in large quantities it’s not good, especially if you take anticoagulants but not seen any evidence that it causes AF.

I have taken fish oils for about 40yrs at least. I've never heard of it causing AF.

The patients in the study who developed AF had high triglycerides as I understand it, high triglycerides are associated with being overweight which is a risk factor for AF not sure these results are clear cut. The “experts” change their minds so often on so many things . Have taken omegas for decades not stopping

I too have taken fish oil for many years because of my worn knees. Like most supplements, a some point there will be a study - usually a meta survey - that will say that something is bad for you. However, the fish oil didn't prevent me from having a full stroke.

I have taken Krill oil since being diagnosed with Lone PAF (7yrs ago) and have had high cholesterol for many years before that and not aware of any issues.

I take flax seed oil for my joints. It works in the same way apparently.

Mainstream medicine has been disparaging any and all supplements for years that the general public can get inexpensively for improved health. They don't like anything infringing on their profits.

Take fish oil for example. They make a prescription fish oil called Vascepa (and I'm sure there are others) that probably costs 10 times or more what you would pay for a quality fish oil at the vitamin shop. It gets the stamp of approval and efficacy reports from the medical establishment ... while the easily sourced, less-costly, and quality one gets panned.

When mainstream medicine does a 'study' on supplement efficacy, they usually go out and source the worst quality garbage they can find. Then, they report it doesn't work and is not healthful (skipping telling the public they tested junk). Sneaky blokes, aren't they?
