Well thought I would pop on and let you all know how I am doing after having the pacemaker fitted in September and AV node ablation 4 wks later . I’m feeling so much better , only on apixiban now , I have been building my walking up to 6 or 7 miles a day with no problems , the scar is still very tender. I’m glad I went for it now . I am still on this lovely group every day reading all the posts . May I take this opportunity to wish you all a lovely Christmas...my only wish now is for COVID-19 to take a hike ...take care all and keep safe ...

Great news Betty, pacemaker worked for me. After another 3-4 weeks you will forget it’s even there.

I found that it’s important to very lightly massage the area around the implant to prevent and break up scar tissue forming because you have a lot of interconnected soft tissue around that area which scar tissue can shorten, impeding full movement. I had expert advice about this with tuition on how to stretch very gently - only after the 6 week healing period of course - very glad I did as I have not had any problems.

Oh thank you for that advice , I will start doing that tonight ...

Go very lightly around the implant area - stay well away from wound & directly over the device or leads. I guess it will be sore anyway as you will be still healing.

I wish I had known to do that because mine is very sensitive and the scar is beginning to look like a cat’s backside (bum!). Perhaps it’s not too late, mine was in June. I will try anyway. I just find some clothes really irritate it. You’re full of good advice - perhaps you should write a book!

Thank you so much for posting this Betty. About two minutes ago I had a phone call from my consultants secretary to say my appointment on Friday with Mr Sporton has been changed to a telephone consultation. We are due to discuss a Pace and Ablate after my third ablation failed. Your positive post has given me a boost .
