"Enlarged heart" or to be more accurate enlarged left atrium is a common side effect of atrial fibrillation but proper treatment to reduce rate can and often does allow the atrium to return to a more normal size .

10 years ago a chest x ray found that I had an enlarged heart. My unknown and therefore untreated AF had caused dilated cardiomyopathy. Treatment for the AF reversed the heart back to normal size with some left over result of stiffening of the heart muscle. Uncontrolled AF, which I am now back in, can cause the heart to enlarge again. This is why I am impatiently waiting for treatment to resume.

As BobD said... I had an enlarged heart after my AF diagnosis, but after medication helped to reduce my AF burden, it returned to normal size.

Would concur with the other posts .. I have a slightly enlarged left atria due to my PAF. Picked up at a echo cardio scan at the time my AF was diagnosed.
