Post ablation

Hi all

Had 2nd telephone consultation after six months post ablation. I've had two more episodes since December, one lasting 7 hours, the arrhythmia nurse has conceded that the ablation has failed and has put me on the waiting list for another one. Meanwhile to combat th multiple ectopic I've been having he's upped the Bisoprolol back to 10mg daily,this will be reviewed after a further 3 months to see if ectopic die down. Another alternative would be a drug called DRONEDARONE taken daily, don't know dosage, this, if successful, would negate the need for a 2nd ablation. But, there's always a but, this would entail monthly blood tests, the first at the Freeman in Newcastle and then at my local health centre. So all is up in the air at the moment.

I’m to suffering with ectopics 11 months post abalation how many ectopics would you say you get a day?

Sometimes literally dozens a day, other times just a handful a day. Just something I have to live with at the moment.

How long have the been going on for since your abalation?

Probably in the last few months since Bisoprolol was reduced from 10mg daily to 5mg.Back up to 10mg since Tuesday, maybe early days, but still getting odd ones.

That’s a big dose I was on 3.75mg and totally wiped me out I’m on 25mg metraprole now but maybe need to increase it depending on my 7 day holter monitor results

Didnt really get any side effects, unlike some on this forum, at 10mg.

I just don't like taking pills, but if it keeps me right I'll put up with them.

Hello there! I had my ablation on November 2018 and I feel ectopics everyday but no AFIB since October 2018 (I hope it will last longer). Ectopics are annoying but not so harmful.

Hi Kia, you sound like you are in a similar position to me, 2nd ablation on 18th feb, perfect heart for 2.5 months then in crept the ectopics and then a few episodes of af, one lasting 12 hours. Also been told to increase bisop to 10mg and now taking Flecainide twice a day which has kept AF at bay but has done nothing for the ectopics which are so frequent. Every two to three beats for hours on end. Drives me mad, constant flip flopping in my chest. Also feeling a big sluggish and breathless, I’m not sure if that’s the bisop or flec.

Fingers crossed for third and final ablation!

Years and years but after my second ablation not a single skipped beat or palpitation for nearly 3 months which was amazing. But now it’s back to being about 70% of everyday. You?

Been 10 months post abalation and been getting them on and off but for the last 4 weeks every day I’ve been getting them done days better some days worse

Regarding the comment made by the Arrhythmia Nurse, as a person who has had more than one ablation, I would rather describe your situation as requiring more work to do.

With modern mapping techniques and looking at what was done the first time, they will seek out and find any other rogue electrical connections and ablate them.

There is a strong possibility that a second ablation will tidy up these connections and enable you to have a better quality of life.

That's exactly what he described. First ablation was a Cryo, he said next one would be of the electrical type with full mapping of the area

My neighbour takes dronedarone and says she is much better . Yes you need the blood tests but she definetly says it's worth it. C
