eGFR of 65

Does anyone here get worried about their eGFR reading, after a blood test for liver & kidney functions, on Apixaban? I am in the lower end of the mildly reduced kidney function.

I ask this, because last time a different GP said that I needed to repeat the test, but that I must be super-hydrated. It did raise the reading from 63 to 70.

This time, on a reading of 65, the GP said 'no further action needed'. (I had drunk 2 glasses of water before.)

Any views would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you Jo! That is helpful. The eGFR thing was a disappointment and I know I must keep the water intake up. From what you said, Bisoprolol may be suppressing my readings too.

I must admit that my primary question to the GP had been about the itchy scratchy annoyance, (face and scalp), that can be a side effect of Apixaban. He suggested Piriton, which didn't impress me particularly. My AF is quiet currently and I don't want to annnoy it!

Thanks again x

Thank you so much.

E45 ought to do something for scalps!

Like you say, the healthy food that is a tricky issue for the kidneys, seems quite mean. I prefer the way of reducing, rather than totally cutting out.

Cheers x

I had an eGFR of around 55 when I had AF. It didn't cause my GP undue concern as I had a high creatinine clearance and exercised quite a lot. After my successful ablation, my eGFR increased to around 65 and has stayed around there since. I think that's due to the ablation though it could be down to moderating my exercise a bit.

Rénal function important as it helps decide the dose of an anticoagulant.

Aveeno has a lot of toxins In it. If you look up the ingredients you may reconsider. I know many health professionals can favor it so that makes me look deeper! I use pure coco butter with Shea butter and it works wonderfully. It’s completely free of any toxins. Good luck.
