Affects after heart ablation

Hi, I had a heart anblation for heart fluttering about a week ago. It was very painful even though was given meds to help me relax. After the second day of procedure i started with numbness on my left thigh. It fees completely numb and sometimes painful to the touch. I will see cardio doctor in a week. Had anyone experienced this.

This is not something I have heard pf . I suggest that you ring the hospital and ask to speak to somebody. Do you have a contact number for the specialist arrhythmia nurse?

Yes, i will be seeing my cardio doctor in 2 days. I will see what he reccomends or has he had other patients claiming same symtoms.

This sounds like Meralgia Paraesthetica which is a rare complication of ablation.

I have had this for many years but it was not due to my ablations. Being somewhat eccentric, I prefer to say I have Bernhardt-Roth Syndrome, it’s alternative name.

If you have the numbness on the same side you had the groin catheter placed, it is most likely due to the nerve being disrupted during insertion. If the area is red and swollen, that could be a DVT but you would notice that.
