I had a Medtronic pacemaker put in three weeks ago and two days ago I had the av node ablated. It is early days, I feel tired and washed out, and a little overwhelmed by it all. I certainly do not feel like skipping about that is for sure, although I wish I did! So at the moment I don't really think I am much good at giving any positive feedback, just taking it a day at a time and letting the groin heal. Warfarin only.

It’s behind you annaelizabeth, so rest up and look forward to better times.
Best wishes for a speedy return to skipping about. xx
It is still early. I only know what I read about pacemakers but may just need to be set for you. So no reason to despair yet. Have to recu[perate from the procedure and as said may just need to contact the right people to get it set for you. Plus think I read they do set it differently right after a procedure and do check it up some time after.
Hi Annaelizabeth, it is very early days in your recovery and I don't think any of us would feel like skipping just yet
You are doing well. Expect it to be many weeks rather than many days getting back to full strength. You have had two procedures on your heart in close succession and often we think we are out of hospital and we should be feeling better almost immediately. I know I had that expectation initially and sometimes people around you do too. Being able to give them realistic expectations can help them too!
Take plenty of rest right now and wishing you a steady recovery.
Very best wishes.
Rest and relax and make sure you are well looked after,
It's all been said.....well done!!
Your body will need time to recover, any invasive procedure will stress the body. Very early days but do hope that in a few months you will reap the benefits.
The pacemaker will need to bed in and may need adjusting as they will often limit the pace to 60-70 so that you can’t skip around! From my husband’s experience It will be at least 6 weeks before they will review and perhaps reset it so you can do more.
Please do keep us informed of your progress.
Very best wishes for your recovery. x
Yes please keep us posted on your progress, for those of us who may well be facing the same scenario it would be very helpful.I had a three lead pacemaker fitted nearly two years ago with the intention of ablating the AV node but the pacemaker has reduced the frequency of af to 3 times in 2 years unfortunately yesterday was one of those times but I did self revert after 3 hours.
I wish you all the best and hope your recovery goes well.

That's most interesting. So, you can have a pacemaker, but you do not need to ablate the AV node. And, if you had a successful run as you did, can the pacemaker can then be taken out? I thought that it was automatic that if you have a pacemaker, you then get the AV node ablated.
When I had the PM fitted I was indeed due to have AV node ablation however as the af attack’s stopped I was advised to stay as is until symptoms changed.
Almost 2years have passed since the PM was fitted and only 3af attack’s all self reverting.
Have patience Annaelizabeth, early days. Rest up, spoil yourself and look forward to skipping about soon. Sending ((hugs))). And wishing you all the best.

Hi Annaelizabeth. It took my dad about 6 weeks after a few tweaks to feel better. Take care x
