If there are any golfers out there, how long should I leave off the golf for after ablation? Have started doing a bit of putting in doors but can't wait to get out on the course. Don't want to be stupid just looking for an idea from a few golfers so I have an idea🚩🔴💨

Hi Greg I don't play golf, or at least play very badly, but will tell you a story as all golfers are apt to do.

I was once invited by Nat West Bank to play in a Pro-Am at Moor Park, a prestigous course as I am sure you know, and I declined thanking them and saying I am not good enough.

They insisted and said "you can't be that bad, what do you go round in"

I replied "About 130"

"That's OK" came the reply "we have other amateur golfers of that standard coming along".

I replied "You don't understand, that's for a nine hole pitch and putt"

Silence came the loud reply :)

Be well

Ian

Ian that was brilliant, a great laugh I'm still giggling as I write this, thanks. Better than any tablets, cheers Ian.

If you're as keen as me, about ½ hour :-) .

Seriously though, I'd have thought a couple of weeks but that's a complete guess.

Hope you play better than me, otherwise it could be a bit stressful :-)

As long as I'm out there it doesn't how I play, I just love being on the course with friends having a good crack. I thought about 2wks as well, suppose I just wanted someone to tell me different. Better to be out there eventually than not at all.

Happy golfing, cheers Koll

Personally I think I'd leave it 3-4 weeks to allow the heart to heal up inside.

I left it for two weeks and used a buggy for the next week or so until I felt confident.

Hello Greg

I too am a very keen golfer, I waited full six weeks after my ablation, just felt right to me.

Go with your gut instinct really, don't underestimate the recovery period though.

Cheers Mickn, don't know if I can wait six weeks, although I know you are right. Problem is from the outside I don't look any different, and when you say to people,"I'm tired all the time" you feel a fraud. Greg1212

I haven't had an ablation but have had 4 internal catheter cardioversions which use a similar procedure via the groin and up an artery or vein.

I left it a couple of weeks just so the leg wound had a reasonable chance to heal before playing again. I guess it depends a bit on how violently you swing as you don;t want to put too much strain on the groin!

The groin is fine, even after a week, it's that big pumpy bit in the middle I worry about. Cheers lance
