ADT drugs , cataracts and diabetes have caused me to need prism lens in my glasses. Although I can see well with my glasses, the lens in testing machines and my prism lens clash, screwing up my passing the test.

Every day I’ve been in the truck, for the last 5.5 years, the hammer has been in the other seat. All we have do is trade seats and little to nothing changes.

I’ll be asking about cataract surgery in the meantime. lol

Still, it’s not a happy day to say the least.

It’s going to matter very little as I’m always with the hammer anyway, but it the thought of losing some of my freedom. 😥

Ah well …. It’s a downer but seems in comparison to “ everything else “ , a kinda back seat bummer lol. It’d be nice if losing my DL was the worse thing going on right now. My clerk at the department of motor vehicles said that , on average, men generally quit driving by age 75. I found that surprising.

It won’t change my life any because since I’ve been in a wheeled chair , the hammer always goes with me to help get me in and out of the truck, push me around and help when I need to manage a personal hygiene situation as well. When you are in a wheeled chair , there is no just jumping out and running into a fast food restaurant for relief lol.

I totally get that, one of the main reasons the Mr. has been driving me for quite some time now (except when he was going through treatment), mostly just to doctors appointments. One condition I have is colitis and it keeps me home for the most part, but if I'm out and about I can't just pull over and run to the nearest facility if need be. TMI, I know, but just relating to my friend!

Naw , it’s not tmi … it just life for us. Frankly every helpful bit and ways to manage situations is import and valuable to someone on this group. I carry a camping porta potty and a poncho style privacy cover with me everywhere in my truck. If you can’t jump out and “ go “ inside , you gotta have ways, means and resources available lol.

Yea those electric e-scooters are great fun , and if your balance is iffy, the electric etrike scooters are fun too. I get into “ iffy “ situations on my etrike , scooters will get you to “ out of the way “ places fast and in my lockable under seat compartment I carry a privacy poncho and a number of essential things to take care of the situations . Over the last couple of years, I’ve kinda lost my modesty in favor of handling “ pressing “ situations. 😂😂😂😂

That sounds like a great idea! I also learned a long time ago to carry my "diaper bag" with me when I travel! No diapers (yet! 😵‍💫😭) but filled with toiletries and such, like an overnight bag. I live in a very rural area, so civilization is about an hour away in each direction and it's definitely come in handy.

The way I try to explain to people is by asking them if they've ever traveled with a stomach virus? That's what it's like on a regular basis with chronic GI issues. Some people still don't get it...sigh.🙄

Great trip buddy, when the girls were young, we camped in Sequoia / Kings many dozens of times in our motorhome. Every winter the 4X4 Jeep club at the V.A. Hospital had a winter , beer bust, off-road party in the snow every year. Some of the best world class countryside ever. Still lots of snow up top too. Have a fun trip. Don’t forget , it’s spring down here but still freezing up there at night, as the snowmelt has barely started. Should be just gorgeous. If you are going up from the three rivers side , hope you are driving a rental car lol. Just kidding ( sorta ) , it’s worse coming down to the 3 rivers side, on your brakes.

That's so awesome, nope not a rentalBrakes were just done, years ago after a marathon I drove up to Pikes Peak and at some point on way down there was a Ranger who made you stop and did a temp check of brakes, he told me to pull over and let them cool for like 30 minutes then get back to where I once belonged

Have fun buddy. The hammer gets scared to death in that drive but I like it myself. Lots of switchbacks and sheer drops lol. I think it’s a more intimate contact with mountain scenery and I love it myself. It’s a little harder on your vehicle than going up and back on the 180 side but I don’t even know if the ridge back connector is plowed or not. Prolly should be by now you’d think. That’s seriously beautiful Sierras, a great trip.
