Cancer takes another brave man

My wonderful husband passed away yesterday after fighting the beast for 15 years. Gleason 8 all but one core positive. He was so strong tried so hard, 2 clinical trials radiation, Zytiga, Xofigo, lupron for the entire time. Finally at age 65 his body could take no more, he lost over 40 pounds, no energy, last scan showed mass on pancreas, more than likely prostate cancer. He is no longer suffering, on hospice for 4 days so he passed at home No more hospitals, no more scans, or doctors, hopefully he is now free of this horrible disease. Dear Judymin, I am so sorry. You must be exhausted. I just read gsun's reply and when I saw "take care of yourself because I know that was put on hold for a long time" I thought, oh, that sounds so true. I have a dear friend who seems to have gained a lot from a "bereavement group" (organized through funeral home I think) and an informal "widow's group" which arose from that who still socialize. You both worked hard together. May he rest in peace.

Judy - in reading his bio one thing was obvious - you were there for him for 15 years. That's a wonderful thing and something you can take solace from, you were there. That really counts. While people say "He's in a better place.." in this case with the suffering he was going through that is almost correct. You'll be in a better place once your grief recedes a bit. I hope there are friends and family members who can help you deal with the grief and loneliness, that can make a big difference. It's time now for you - thank you for caring for your husband through better and worse, sickness and in health. I will suggest to you, what you offered us "keep living life and loving" - thank you.
