I have had 3 Chemotherapy treatments with Docataxel. before the first treatment PSA was 89. after the first treatment PSA was 73.31.. after the second treatment PSA was 52.82. after the third treatment, PSA was 73.31..
does it make sense to take another chemotherapy treatment since the PSA has risen after the 3rd treatment?
The chemotherapy treatment is supposed to take place tomorrow morning

Are you still taking ADT??
No because it no longer was responding and that is why I am on Chemotherapy.
ADT never stops "working" i n that it always suppresses testosterone. Activation of the androgen receptor is much more powerful without ADT, so cell kill is reduced.
My husband’s psa did not have a downward trend during chemo either. I believe it went up once or twice and then leveled off during the 8 rounds, to which Carboplatin was added. He stayed the course. He’s not cured but he’s been off all treatment for 1.5 years. I believe the chemo reduced the cancer. Scans were good during chemo, and in retrospect, psa wasn’t a useful indicator for us with that treatment.
Why would you stop ADT. Follow the research if you can. You need to learn as much as you can. If you want to survive longer you need to take what ever treatments are available to you. This is a difficult disease and we all react differently to treatments. I still don’t understand this disease. I am just trying to survive longer if I can.
Thank you for your response. Under ADT, PSA was rising. I don’t produce testosterone.
The doctors decided the next thing should be Chemotherapy after trying several ADTs
