ADT SE’s

I had a 6 month Lupron shot in April last year. I experienced all the typical SE the worst being the hot flashes at night.

I am following the Ssport protocol for a biological reoccurrence. Basically a 6 month adt with 39 radiation treatments last year. Current labs show undetectable PSA with a slow recovery on the T with the latest T result at 90

question is approx 6 months after the Lupron shot the SE started dissipating. Now I am experiencing the hot flashes again almost 8-9 later after the SE dissipated. Anyone have this happen is it normal?

T of 90 still low enough to cause hot flashes

My hot flushes never stopped even during 9 month break from ADT. Side effects vary from person to person. I have accepted hot flushes part of daily routine since I started ADT in November 2018.

Yeah - hot flashes often linger. They should reduce over time.

For me, hot flashes were the slowest of the SEs to attenuate; I was still having them 12 - 13 months after I quit.

I have been on Prostap for 6 months.

Initially I had frequent and very uncomfortable hot flushes.

During my last meeting with my consultant I asked him if anything could be done to alleviate them, he wrote me a prescription for Cyprostat 50mg.

Initially my hot flushes seemed to get worse, but after about a week they had disappeared.

After a couple of weeks free of hot flushes I started halving the tablets, I always try to adjust meds so that I take the minimum necessary, and after a month they still seem to be doing the job.

I wonder why more people aren't prescribed this as it worked so well for me, is there something I don't know?

Good luck to all

From Dr. Goo and Dr. Gle, FYI

What is the alternative to cyproterone acetate?

Relative to steroidal antiandrogens like cyproterone acetate and spironolactone, bicalutamide has better selectivity in its action, superior efficacy as an antagonist of the androgen receptor, and better tolerability. Bicalutamide also shows a better safety profile than cyproterone acetate.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

my SE;s (hot flashes and fatigue) actually doubled in intensity and frequency while the T was recovering (about 4 weeks). Once the T leveled out around 400 (63 years old) the SE's dissipated and finally went away. I'm sure each person is different. I also agree with 6357axbz in that T levels below 100 can cause hot flashes. I know non-cancer men with low T 50 to 90 that have hot flashes. When I was on 6 months of Lupron my T was undetectable.
