Pylarify sites in California

Because Ga-68-PSMA-11 is only FDA-approved at 2 sites -UCLA and UCSF, there can be long waiting times. Pylarify, the other FDA-approved PSMA PET indicator, is available more widely. However, I can't vouch that radiologists are as good at reading the PET scans. If you want to find a Pylarify site near you, call 1-800-964-0446. (They plan to have a full list on the web in January). Here is the current list for California:

Other than experience of reading results

Is there any reason to believe either Ga-68-PSMA-11 or Pylarify is better than the other for any particular purpose?

Cesces, check out the video I posted earlier tonight from UCSF. Super clear answer to your question. Mike

Pylarify is more sensitive at lower PSA

Tall_Allen profile image
Tall_Allen in reply toTall_Allen

But with all the hoopla over PSMA PET scans, NaF(18) is twice as sensitive for bone metastases.

TA I’m a little confused. You say that for bone mets, “Pylarify is more sensitive at lower PSA”.

But is NaG(18) a third tutor of scan or an acronym fit Pylarify?

Thx

Schwah

Across ALL mets, Pylarify is a more sensitive PET than Ga-68-PSMA-11 at low PSA.

NaF(18) is twice as sensitive for bone metastases than Pylarify.

Thx TA. Where is the closest place in Southern California to get the NaF18 scan, which seems best for me given my history of bone mets. Does UCLS do them? Can you send the links showing the studies to support both the NaF18 beings Teicwe as sensitive for bone mets and Pylarify being more sensitive than PSMA scans? I’d like to review with Dr Scholz. Thx so much

Schwah

I think UCLA offers it. Link is in the section about NaF

Do you know if Medicare approves and pays for an NaF scan?

They used to if there was a clinical trial or registry - but check with them, it may have changed.

TA, Pylarify is more sensitive at lower numbers. PSA 2 and below???

Tall_Allen in reply toGabby643

More sensitive than Ga-68-PSMA-11, yes.

How do you rate C11 Choline these days? I think Mayo increases the amount for more accuracy?

Tall_Allen in reply toAzores1

No reason to ever use it - Mayo is still trying to recoup their investment.

TA, in your opinion, at what psa level would the 2 scans, pylarify vs PSMA, become about equal in sensitivity?

Tall_Allen profile image
Tall_Allen in reply towilcoxsaw

At PSAs over 2.0 all the PET scans can detect metastases in 80+% of men.

Tall_Allen profile image
Tall_Allen

In the NIH study, the median PSA was 10.

All can detect at 2.0, but which one would be more sensitive and locate the higher number of Mets in your opinion ?

Tall_Allen profile image
Tall_Allen

Overall, Pylarify. If bone metastases, NaF. If late stage, FDG. But why is it necessary to detect the highest number of metastases?

Thanks....Dr. Rana Mckay at UCSD just confirmed this in a presentation to the San Diego Informed Prostate Cancer Support Group (IPCSG). They are seeing good coverage by Medicare...mixed on private insurance...and the current wait time is about 3 weeks.

Is PSMA PETMR Panel with GA-----68 or Pylarify, the other FDA PSMA PET scan better or just better at finding different mets (Organ / Bone )

Tall_Allen profile image
Tall_Allen in reply toBubasurf6

Pylarify detects cancer in more men at lower PSA than Ga-68-PSMA-11. NaF(18) is twice as good at detecting bone metastases.

Kaiser San Diego had at least a one month wait. (Apparently, they only have one site for the whole SD Service Area that does these and they only do one/day M-F). I pushed back and was able to get a referral to Imaging Healthcare Specialists (W Washington, SD) and got in within a week. It seems they do multiple/day. Got my results back within four hours. Very happy with IHS.
