Fever with VISION Study

Had my third VISION study infusion on Aug, 7. Normal recovery, nothing unusual. This Monday, Aug. 26, I felt wiped out and went to bed at 3:30 pm. By 5:30 pm I had gone from normal temperature to 104 F (40 C). Immediately to Urgent Care, who suspected neutropenic fever, which, apparently is a less-common side effect of some kinds of cancer treatments, but is very serious and can be deadly. By 1 am, after being seen by half to medical profession and having enough blood drawn to satisfy a vampires' banquet, I was checked in at the hospital. My wife having wisely gone home two hours earlier.

After hydration and bed rest, by yesterday afternoon, everything tickety-boo and I was released. Did not have neutropenic fever, VISION study people said high fever was not a normal side effect and fever "idiopathic" (no idea why it occurred).

Any brother have any similar experiences or is this just another reason my sister-in-law thinks I'm weird?

So all your white blood cells were normal or high? Maybe an infection from the infusion?

White blood cell count normal Did have dark urine, which is symptomatic of dehydration - even though I'd been drinking plenty of water. Urine is clear now.

speaking of hydration, I don't drink much water but I do coffee, does that count?
