And so it begins......

Hi. Diagnosed in August 2018. Age 64. See details in my profile. Started Bicalutamide 1st Sept. Now on Prostap 3 (ADT). Sadly our daughter passed away unexpectedly in October. This was a devastating shock following on so soon after my diagnosis. This has affected us both massively and I think the hormone treatment has exacerbated my reaction. I suppose we will eventually come to terms with the loss of our daughter and then we will get on with dealing with my cancer.

Started 7 weeks of Radiotherapy on 12th Nov. Both surgeon and radiologist have said that the affected node is difficult to treat due to its proximity to the rectum. PSA is now 0.25 and T is 0.6. Waiting to see how things look after the radiotherapy. Being treated in Leeds NHS which appears to be a well resourced and on the ball centre.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. That's something one doesn't get over, and I'm sure the emotional volatility from the ADT makes the grief more intense.

Yes, treating cancer that may have penetrated the rectal wall is challenging. Are they treating the rest of the pelvic lymph nodes as well? Let us know how it goes.

I’m so sorry that you lost your daughter. May you and your wife find peace in the midst of your grief - not to mention the fear and grief of your diagnosis. There are many remarkable and helpful men on this site. If you share whatever it is that’s happening with treatment or how you’re feeling, there will be people who will share their experiences and what they’ve learned. This site is a place of hope and kindness. May you find that for yourself here! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss and diagnosis your life must be in turmoil.

I was diagnosed early this year with an aggressive form of PC and I'm currently being treated by the NHS at York District hospital. After doing some research and reading posts on this forum Iv'e decided to go down the route of trying to find a durable remission by using whatever treatment, drug or supplement is available out there to enhance the current standard of care given by the NHS . Please feel free to contact me if you feel like talking to someone "local" in a similar position to yourself.

I wish you all the best and the strength to cope with all that lay before you.

So sorry for your loss and the terrible emotional toll it plus the Pca is taking

When my brother died at a young age, after years of continual suffering, my mother said ( on the way back from the funeral) , that this loss - of a child- was worse than the loss at a relatively young age of my father as well as the loss of almost all of her family during her experience in the Holocaust.

My previous onc said my Pca status was connected to stress levels and insisted on my taking meditation course , also take antidepressants, anti anxiety meds, go to therapy and also hypnotherapy in an attempt to lower the stresses

Wishing you the best of luck and will pray for success for you

Sorry. I cannot help you with your cancer issue. I was 62 when I opened the door and the coroner was standing there. Daughter killed by wrong way driver. (He was given 13 years, already out after 5 years, I wish him well.) Wife had weight reduction surgery right before this happened which did not go well and she died 2 years later from the one, two punch. Death certificate said heart attack, but it was really a broken heart. It takes a long time to get over the worse of it. Get professional help if you think you need it. I don't recommend depression drugs, but admit I sat out in the back yard on my lawn chair and Dr. Budweiser was a constant companion. A lot of this time was spent trying to figure out the future of my granddaughter. And we succeeded splendidly. (90% credit to her stepfather and family, 10% to me and wife.) Please celebrate her life. And now focus on your own, others depend on you and you depend on others. Good luck my friend.
