Testosterone injections.

I've been told to stop taking testosterone injections as they can affect pc. Is this really true? I had them because of low levels. I'm from New Zealand. Waiting to see what treatment for G7 (3+4) or Active Surveillance.

I do not believe that testosterone is your or prostate cancer (PCa) enemy and does in most cases helps PCa patients restore their quality of life. Must find Dr. who will monitor this for you and help you. Read the book The New Testosterone Treatment by Dr Edward Friedman and you can purchase on Amazon.com. Dr Bob Lebowitz & Dr. Abraham Morgetaler, Dr. Mohit Khera, go on their websites and read about testosterone from the experts. If Testosterone was bad for you why at 20 years old is it at it's highest levels? That is enough to know how important it is to our life. If you have issues this is an important area to research and know about.

I'm having 20 radiation treatments starting early December. AS was not mentioned until I asked, but the advice was just zap it. I don't think I would have liked just leaving the cancer to see what happened anyway. I'd rather it was dealt with even though there may be side effects. The success rate is encouraging too. Is there a section on this site for radiation patients? I'm getting conflicting advice about re starting testosterone injections too so will probably wait until after treatment and think again. Looks like a good Christmas coming up. Lol.

Developed shingles so the radiation was put off until January at my request. Hopefully I'll be less tired and raring to go. Any radiation experiences? I've also been told that I can resume the testosterone injections to get back to normal levels. Seeing Dr tomorrow. John.

Have had 10 radiation treatments out of 20 now. Waiting for the side effects to kick in, if they do! Bowel function a bit off today, I've been 4 times and not pleasant, but I overdid the chocolate and ice cream to celebrate a weekend off treatment and forgot to take my fibre supplement, (I had a lot of my bowel removed.) I had my 5 year appt with my colorectal nurse and that's the last one. (Disease free and a badge saying 'survivor!) Now to deal with the prostate cancer. The shingles rash has all but disappeared too. Best wishes to all.

The radiation finished a few weeks ago and the side effects of painful urination and ejaculation ok now. I took Ural sachets but for some reason was prescribed over 100! Bowel movements are always unpleasant and 4/5 times a morning sometimes, but that is probably because not much bowel is left after bc surgery 5 and a bit years ago. I'm seeing the specialist on Monday, so any general advice about questions would be great! I'm making my own list this weekend. Best wishes to all. John.
