I have been on Active Surveillance for Gleason 6 prostate cancer since November 2006

Welcome. AS was a relatively new option in 2006....how did you come to choose AS? ALSO, How often do you do PSA tests, and any other tests?

I was initially told I was a Gleason 7 (3+4) but I got a second opinion (G6 3+3) from Doctor Jonathan Epstein at Johns Hopkins and decided not to rush into anything. At the time my urologist said he had one other guy who was doing Watchful Waiting! Get PSA tests every six months Currently 1.9.

November 2009 for me. Boy, was I lucky that I was diagnosed at Johns Hopkins by a urologist who was involved with their AS program.
