Night Terrors

I’m staying with my daughter for post op recovery, because I live alone. I have now discovered that I apparently have night terrors. I have no memory of nightmares or dreams of any kind. But my daughter comes into my room to find me awake, going to get a drink of water. She says I’m screaming at the top of my lungs and it’s loud and scary. I’ve even awakened my grandchildren, who are scared too. What do I do to fix this?

the first things i would think of would be: seeing a sleep specialist and checking side effects for new meds. i'm sorry this is happening to you. i was on a sleeping pill once that sort of worked... i awoke once after hitting my head in the shower (i'd showered just before bed and was fully clothed when i hit my head). the other weird thing was one night i went to my parents' floor, cooked bacon and eggs, put it down the garbage disposal, washed the dishes and put them away. to this day the only reason i know i did that is b/c my dad watched the whole thing (around 1:30 at night). he was scared to wake me.

i hope you find answers soon.

Thanks for the speedy reply. As far as I know I haven’t done anything that extreme but like I said. Normally I live alone and I don’t get much feed back from the cat. I have done a little reading and found that RLS can be a trigger for the “terrors”. And I have it really bad. I’m going to try to contact my neurologist this morning. Thanks again.
