Hi

I don't know whether those side effects are normal but they are the ones I experienced - the first time I stuck with the meds and they were extremely helpful, the second time I felt suicidal so didn't stick with them but looking back I think that I wasn't clinically depressed in the same way, I was just extremely unhappy over a long period of time.

Do give them a go, two or three weeks and the side effects should settle right down, if they don't then definitely see your GP and wean off them before going onto something else, I did that by taking them every other day and then every third day for several weeks.

I hope things work out for you and you begin to feel better.

Sertraline - generic of Surlife - is better than, eg, Prozac, in my opinion. What is one to advise - try them all? Doubt it. What works best without messing one up further. Try Sertraline as -and for - duration it works for you. But you are correct in asking others their experience of the product.

I started off on 50mg sertraline and was a mess for two weeks. After that adjustment period i didnt feel numb or zombie like and now i take 200mg sertraline and another anti depressant and have no problems in regards to my meds. Everyones different and different drugs work for different people. Many years ago i started taking an anti depressant (i cant remember which one) and it made me more ill because i felt so numb and zombie like. It takes about six weeks to properly settle into a new medication i think so maybe try sit it out or just try a new type of anti depressant?
