Hey everyone I'm falling apart here, I was just called today and told what I thought was a lipoma was in fact melanoma. I was referred to an oncologist and freaking out right now I do not know what to expect and what has me more worried is the spot didn't present itself on the outside just inside. I must list my father in August to cancer and the worst things are going through my head right now can anyone ease my mind maybe just alittle?

I was diagnosed in Dec 2016 with stage 3c melanoma. I also do not have any spots on my skin, my first indication that something was wrong was a 5cm tumor in my armpit.

My oncologists have said that while this is less common, about 10% of cases are like this.

I still struggle with coping even a year and a half later but treatment has been very promising and I live my life with my husband and 4 year old son in pretty much the same way as before I was diagnosed.

I hope this helps. As hard as it is, stay as positive as you can good vibes really do help... and sometimes a good antianxiety pill :)

Hi!

So sorry about your diagnosis. I know how it feels to feel like your world is all of a sudden spinning out of control and the worst thoughts are going through your mind.

It has been almost 1 year since my diagnosis and it took a good 6 months of prayer, lots of visits with my drs to wrap my head around it and become educated. I couldn’t even say the word Melanoma until a couple months ago without breaking down. There are so many people (unfortunately) who are here to help you through this because they have also gone through it .

Have you talked with your healthcare team about your treatment plan?

I will pray for you and feel free to reach out anytime!

❤️,

Andrea

It is a scary diagnosis and you have every right to be nervous. Sometimes, melanoma does not present itself on the skin. It’s just really important to get in and get everything checked out right away. Don’t freak out! Remember, you might be worrying about nothing. So get yourself to the oncologist, make sure you bring someone with you to help listen, and then come up with a plan.

Remember we are here for you and listen and help you.
