Hi Pippapips, I also put weight on after having hysterectomy age 35 ( now age 71) and the Dr refusing to give HRT and I was also diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. Until now have struggled to lose weight and didn’t find my local SW or WW very supportive so I gave up trying. After seeing my liver specialist (another health problem) she suggested this group and trying the Mediterranean diet. I have found everyone to be very helpful and supportive and had lots of advice on recipes etc. in 4 weeks I have lost 8lb. As I have a back problem I find exercising and walking very difficult so have got an exercise Bike which seems to be helping. I wish you luck with whichever healthy eating plan you decide on

I’ve mainly looked online for menu’s but also use pinch of nom recipe books that were recommended by a friend who is going to slimming world. She is now thinking of joining this site as the help and support is much better, and she feels she is just paying to get weighed.

The Mediterranean diet varies by country and region, so it has a range of definitions. But in general, it's high in vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, beans, cereals, grains, fish, and unsaturated fats such as olive oil. It usually includes a low intake of meat and dairy foods.

Hi Pippa. Have you tried acupuncture? I’ve had health benefits from it in the past & have just started another course of treatment to help with sugar cravings, weight loss & low mood. Felt slight improvement after just the first session 🙂 I think 6-8 is the norm. I plan to keep going regularly to try to restore some balance.

I have a lot of faith in these ancient ways of treating ailments and many methods have been incorporated into NHS healthcare over the years, including acupuncture.

I hope you find some relief soon, whichever path you choose. Ayurvedic medicine has also been of great benefit to my mental health. In fact, I might just book in a session!

All the best 🙂

Hi Pippa. I don’t. I found an Ayurvedic Doctor in Wetherby & have been going there, on & off since 2016. He and his nurses were instrumental in my emotional healing from trauma, as well as associated physical aches & pains. I particularly loved ‘Kiri’ and ‘Shirodhara’ treatments but they were prescribed. I didn’t ask for them. Hope that helps 🙂

Hi Pippapips,When I've been too ill to exercise, I had the ability to go for a walk. Just 20 minutes at a time then I noticed that I could walk for longer.

Also try the MLD massage, do a bit of research, it will help with your tummy.

All the best. 🙂
