Mri follow up nearly 5 months after scan?

Hi everyone!

I’m wondering if anyone could help in any way. I was due to receive a new appointment with gyny anyway but I had an MRI on Tuesday 3rd Dec and I was notified today that I have an appointment with Gyny next April 7th 2020... which is fine as I know it’s a long wait but do you think I will get my results or hear back sooner regarding the results of my MRI scan?

I’m a little confused, as surely they wouldn’t let me wait that long (nearly 5 months) to tell me at my next gyny appointment?

I appreciate any advice/feedback :-)

Thank you!

Yes they would if nothing if drastically wrong!!! I don’t know what part of the world you live in but that kind of wait is very common these days.

Only you can decide if you are willing to wait that long. I have never given any MD the ok to treat me this way!!!! In my book this is abusive medical care when it takes 5 months to get an appointment or anything done. You are the paying customer and it’s your body

You should not have to wait till you are at deaths door to get your body taken care of.

I am in the UK - thank you for replying, I think I will be calling the consultant who referred me as it’s been an ongoing investigation for a long time including various health problems.

I do agree that there are many people who should not have to wait that long or be taken in to emergency care for their health to be taken seriously :-(

You could try ringing your consultants secretary to see if they are prepared to send the results on to you. They are your results after all.

Yes, I think I am going to call the consultancy and see what they say - aware that it could be normal results but piece of mind would be better than waiting 5 months.

Thank you for replying!

😏 I had an annual mammogram (following on from surgery, chemo, radiotherapy) on 18 October, I still haven’t had results. As has been previously said, if anything untoward had been found I would have expected to be contacted ASAP.

Wow! That’s such a long wait after what you’ve been through. More of a reason for them to keep you updated, I’d like to think they would anyway but of course it never seems to be that way.

I hope you don’t have to wait too much longer to be seen to and get results.
