Thyroid full tests

Hi everyone

I’m about to ask my GP to request a full thyroid spectrum test for me, including those T... they are unlikely to check regularly.

Reason: am 51, menopausal, weight gain, sporadic depression but am not on any table at present.

Just lethargic and not energy. Motivation to do anything: zero.

Can you please, send me the full list of the Thyroid tests I should ask her. Many many thanks- Claudia

You need to ask for:

TSH

FT4

FT3

TGab antibodies

TPO antibodies

But I will warn you, I went in with a letter asking all the above to be tested, and the GP refused. They said they only test TSH and FT4... So you will likely get the same response, and will have to pay for a private test.

🤔 My Health Centre only does the basic test. Re findings, they only mention ‘within normal readings’. My Consultant also did the test, again I was told the same result. Maybe it’s time to pay for a private test 🤔

I've learned that "normal" and "optimal" are very different things... It's worth paying for a full test that includes B12, vit D, folate and ferritin you feel better if everything is optimal!
