Hrt age your story

Hi

I asked a few months ago about age and Hrt.

A few of you have started Hrt at over 60.

I would love to know your story, ie

Why did you start so late,

How long after your last period

How has Hrt helped you.

What diet do you follow

Do you take vitamins.

What Hrt are you on

It would be so helpful and informative to read such stories.

Many thanks

Junie

Hi, Junie2! I was scared off from HRT back when they did the big study that freaked most women away from it. Later it was found that the study was skewed and HRT wasn't a killer therapy after all. I never took any hormones for menopause when I was going through perimenopause and menopause and suffered terribly for YEARS and YEARS. Hot flashes, night sweats...lost my marriage..almost lost my job. I talked my doctor into starting me on HRT 4 months ago, and I am feelilng so much better! All those years of suffering...wish I had gone on them sooner. I am a 70-year-old woman, so it's rare in the US for doctors to prescribe HRT, if at all, for any woman over 60 and 10 years out from menopause. I fall into both of those categories, but he took pity on me. I love him for that! I take 0.5mg of estradiol and 1.0 mg of norethindrone. It's a combo pill that I take once a day. I wanted to do the patch, but my insurance doesn't cover that, so opted for the pill. As far as diet...I'm terrible! I eat fast food way too much and am overweight. I do take 2,000 IU of Vit. D3, thyroid med. (Nature Throid), an aspirin, and magnesium each morning. I say go for it, girlfriend. As Izzy in "Fried Green Tomatoes" said: "You need to get you some hormones, girl." HA! Anyway, you and I have talked about this before, and I wish you the best.

Hi Sweetsusie

That is very helpful, I like reading others stories on their health issues and what they have found to make them feel better.

Reading the journeys others take is very interesting.

Plus it helps me to talk to my doctor, when I read what is helping others.

It’s good to talk to you Susie

Junie

Hi

I started the menopause at 46 but the penny didn’t drop until 48 ! Been on patches since - feel great just had sweats and real fatigue . 52 now and dreading gp deciding that it’s enough - diet is pretty good but addicted to sugar I’m afraid . Run most days 5-8k . Tried the little magnet Alexa thought it did make me feel good but probably placebo ??? Don’t want to feel old and tired again 😜

Don't let your doctor take you off your HRT! I'm 70 and my doctor finally prescribed HRT for me. I feel great and am not willing to even go off of it.
