Your GP should prescribe 50-75mcg Levothyroxine to bring TSH down to the low-normal range 0.4-2.5 which is recommended for pregnant women and should contact endocrinology if unsure about treatment. cks.nice.org.uk/hypothyroid...

Having TSH >3.0 increases the risks of miscarriage, pre-term birth and post-partum psychosis.

Show your GP the Management of primary hypothyroidism: statement by the British Thyroid Association Executive Committee

13. The serum TSH reference range in pregnancy is 0·4–2·5 mU/l in the first trimester and 0·4–3·0 mU/l in the second and third trimesters or should be based on the trimester-specific reference range for the population if available. These reference ranges should be achieved where possible with appropriate doses of L-T4 preconception and most importantly in the first trimester (1/++0). L-T4/L-T3 combination therapy is not recommended in pregnancy (1/+00).

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and learned late last week that my TSH is 19. I had been on 100 mcg levothyroxine and now am on 150 mcg. I see an endocrinologist on 2/26, but am hoping to get some perspective before then. Can anyone point me to information that shows statistics of likelihood of brain damage (or other birth defects) this could cause to my baby? As you can imagine, I'm very concerned and am hoping to find some info that will help settle my nerves. Also, how and when will I know if there's been brain damage?

You are in a unique and complicated situation. Since you have reservations about DEs, and the law is making things more challenging, maybe your husband's frozen sperm is the way to go. Plus, as many women will attest, DE are not always the magical solution. Sadly. I mean, yes, the chances are higher, no doubt, but if it's not for you- it's just not for you.

Amesw!!!! I'm so happy for you!!! Are you able to hold out for 3 weeks before you see your fetus (or is it still embryo)? Glad your ultrasounds had been great! First trimester is over soon so I hope you'll feel better very soon.
