Hello all, new here to this group. I am 49 and suspect I've been in menopause for the last 2 years. I cannot be certain as I had a uterine ablation 7 years ago and have not had a period since (thankfully!).
But I have other symptoms, weight gain in a new pattern around the middle, changes in skin, thinning hair on my head but more facial hair. Ugh. And the hot flashes...
I am having hot flashes at night only though - maybe one in the morning after I wake but the rest are only after I fall asleep. I've tried Black Cohosh, DIM, and am currently supplementing with progesterone...but it seems nothing has helped.
I've searched the internet high and low for the physiological reasons behind a hot flash at night only, and have found nothing. Does anyone here have experience with this, or that could possibly point me in the right direction? I would think hotflashes would happen all the time, or at least intermittently at different times of the day. But I have lousy sleep all the time because of this. I wake just before every hot flash - feel it, then try to fall back asleep, over and over.
Anyone have any experience with this and possibly know what makes these only happen at night?
Clabbergirl,
Night sweats can be due to B12 deficiency so it may be worth asking your GP to check B12 and folate.

Folic acid may help menopausal hot flushes.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will look into it. I am willing to try almost anything at this point (that I haven't tried already).
