Is it safe for me to stop losing weight for now?

I (F22) have completely changed my lifestyle after a diabetes diagnosis and managed to lose weight. My body currently looks like in the top picture. Does that look healthy or do I need to lose more? I struggle with body dysmorphia and it is very hard for me to tell what a healthy body shape is so I would like some advice. I feel much better at this weight and got rid of obesity-related breathing problems and I’m now able to walk without pain in my knees.

I don’t have a weight as I used to be anorexic for a long time in my teenage years. I’d prefer not to weigh myself and that’s why I’m asking for somebody to estimate if the body from the top picture looks healthy or overweight.

I think it would be best to discuss this with your doctor and possibly get a referral to a dietician. They would be the best qualified people to advise you. Best wishes.

Hi and welcome, nfjavdfm :)

Well done for taking the necessary steps to improve your health.

As you have a complicated history with your weight, I feel it would be better for you to return to your doctor for their professional opinion about the changes to date. They will be able to tell you if you've done enough to reverse your diabetes diagnosis and whether you've lost enough weight for other health markers.

Wishing you all the best for the future :)

Not just the weight loss but clearly eating better and decent food helps internally too . You now walk pain free so at least maintain the weight you are now as it is so easy to gain it . People have different perceptions on body image. I am 63 and don’t want to be very slim as it makes my skin saggy and my face drawn whereas my daughter in law who is super fit , does pole and aerial hoop keeps her weight at under 50kg . I would to me - look awful at that weight . Do this more as keeping healthy. Eating sensibly is a great lifestyle choice .

Most modern nutritionist say that if you're healthy your waist measusement will be less than half your height measurement. If you have difficulty loosing a tummy it could be due to inflammation from eating refined carbs or refined oils (like canola, sunflower or other seed oils)
