Hi and welcome, MiddlesexMan :)

I have never used Saxenda and would never wish to. I'm afraid there is no 'miracle drug' for weight loss, at best it's just a tool, which may not help at all. For positive, long term weight loss, that's really down to eating correctly and sustainably. For me, this was to go low carb, for others it may be something different.

All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/weight-l... and we hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run.

We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.

Wishing you all the best :)

I am prescription called Phentermine, for 3 months off a. Month, then on 3 more months, no adverse reactions, try it, it really curbs my appetite.

I’m finding it’s not really curbing my appetite. As eating for me is more of a habit than hunger.

I suspect that's why Saxenda isn't working, too.

Blood sugar also regulates hunger so if you're still eating high carbohydrate foods especially ones with a hig GI, that will counteract the effecs of the Saxenda as well as being partly responsible for fat storage.

Wife has recently been diagnosed diabetic. So she’s put us both on a low carb diet.

Assuming that she's identifying all the high carb foods correctly, maybe that's why the Saxenda doesn't appear to be working. It takes time to adjust your eating habits. It's taken me three years on a low carb diet to get out of the habit of eating breakfast and adopting time restricted eating.

It is what works for you but I personally wouldn't use anything other than pure good food . Think about how many people pay for these things or then say to me I am going to Slimming World again . You need sadly to break habits . I found keeping myself occupied and being in a place where there wasn't food - so a swimming pool , a bike , a course ..but not cookery !! Walk to the library , out in open air . 3 meals a day , portion control and no snacks = saves me money . lost 18kg , gained confidence then changed jobs . Got nicer clothes , booked a holiday I actually looked forward to. Nothing complex - just balanced and try uncooked , unprocessed . Don't over think . I use carbs . I have porridge every morning , made with water , full fat blob of Greek yogurt and varied 1 fruit portion . Cut out all and bang goes your social life . Go out and enjoy a reasonable main course and drink mindfully . Silly restrictions and you have no friends , end up miserable and are controlled by food . Adults mainly hate control . Wouldn't pay for anything - think that the money saved can buy you those pricey fruits that are doing you good and they actually don't work out that expensive as you don't usually eat all at once . Avoid the crisps/ biscuit aisles and save £5 per week or more.

I have been on it for last 3 weeks I started because after losing 51-2 stone I had put 3 back on for various reasons but mainly over eating I found I had turned into a binge eater so saxander has helped me to stop binge eating lost 12lbs in 3 weeks which has helped my mind but I could have done that without it if my mind was in right place so for me it’s helped get my mindset right because I am no longer thinking about food all of the time I still eat 3 healthy meals a day and i don’t fancy any of the crap I used to eat. If your using it for a quick fix it doesn’t work like that in the long run there are lots who stop eating which won’t helpWith habits that need to be broken all depends on the reason for taking it .

As always we find that participation is the key to success. The Daily Diary and the weekly Weigh In are very good places to begin.

Good luck 🍀

I started taking exenatide (a GLP-1 agonist, a similar drug to saxenda) for a different reason (NOT weight loss) and I've lost so much weight I've had to go off it. What it did is just made me not-hungry...actually, borderline nauseated.

I happen to eat a ketogenic diet.

It DOES work, for most people, and I believe it is one of the first drugs that actually truly does. But I'm wondering: maybe try a serious low carb diet, bordering on keto. Like, almost no carbs.

The drug slows gastric emptying among other things, so if you eat a lot of fat (which is slow to leave your belly anyway) plus pay attention, you might find you just aren't very hungry.
