Hello to everyone!

This is my first day!

Doing well!

Frustrated trying to work out Calories!

eg NHS says Item weighs 286g and food is 238 per 100g!

I need something so I can work out easily how many calories 286g grams are without wrecking my brain!

lol xx

Hello and welcome, Fanski :)

It can be a bit of a palaver working out the calories. 286g is approx 2.6 times 100g, so you'd multiply the 238 by 2.6. Or always eat 100g portions of everything :D You'll soon get to know the calories in the things you regularly eat.

Alternatively, you could go for something straightforward like this that doesn't invovle any counting phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

You'll find everything you need to use the forum by following this link healthunlocked.com/weight-l... to Pinned Posts. A good start would be joining a weekly weigh in - why not join the Tuesday Trimmers in the morning? - and using the Daily Diary, where members share their meal and exercise plans. There's also a daily chat there, and other clubs and challenges.

Do some browsing, read and reply to posts, chat and ask questions and encourage others - it will all pay off for you :)

Thank you so much BridgeGirl! That makes total sense now you've told me about working out the Calories!

And thank you so much for the other information, its really helpful.

I'm at work every morning, but I will look into the groups you have mentioned.

This has fired me up even more now!

👍😄

That's good to hear :) The weigh in goes on all day: I just suggested the morning as that's where there are more people around, and more chat. For the Diary, that starts the evening before, but again it's busiest in the morning. Tuesday's Diary is just getting underway :)

I use MyFitnessPal app to log the calories - pretty straightforward, others use some other apps, but I haven’t tried them, so can’t compare 😊

Brilliant! I'm sure I have the App om my phone, so that sounds like a good Plan!

😀

Hey Fanski, welcome to the forum! I use myfitnesspal to log my food and exercise too. Other apps connect to it, such as fitbit and under armour etx., so it's easier to keep track

Ohh I didn't know the Fitbit connects to My Fitness Pal. Thanks for that 👍😀

Hey, welcome to the forum. As with others, I use the MyFitnessPal app to track the number of calories I have. It has a scan feature for you to scan the barcode of items, eliminating the need to check elsewhere for the calories. It's relatively easy to use and you soon get used to it.

Do check what your calorie range out to be using the NHS BMI calculator and adjust the app as it gives a default of 1400. Good luck.

Thank you! Fitness Pal seems to be very popular! Do you do just the free App? 😀

Yes just the free app, I just log the calories and if I want to check macro nutrients I can, that's enough for me, I dont want to over complicate it

Hi Fanski

I'm new on here too, at least this time round 😉.

When I was calorie counting, I used to round the 100g down to 10g, then multiply back up by how many I was having, if that makes sense; it seemed to be easier especially as old fashioned me has to write everything down on paper! I'm not calorie counting at the moment because I have awful issues with leaving sweet stuff alone (I can't just have one small piece of chocolate, for instance). Instead, I've re-started low carb high fat, if slightly relaxed, and it is working, especially in relation to sugar cravings, which have all but disappeared...how long it will last, we'll see, but all fine for now!

Good luck with everything.

Best wishes

V x

Hi, Yes that does make sense! Fab!I like your style of being a little relaxed, I think that's the only way to get back to it-a lot less pressure!

Thank you and good luck to you too!

Lol ! They frustrate me too, I like low carb so I don't have to count them ! Would you like to join us on our weigh in? Here's the link, I hope to see you there! :-) x
